If you’re hungry, there is a big grocery store, a little east of Monmouth called "Waremart" the address is 1737 Monmouth St, Independence, OR

Historic Downtown Monmouth
is just south and east of the Western Oregon University campus. A number of historic buildings and tasty restaurants cluster around charming Main Street Park, including Main Street Ice Cream Parlor (109 Main St E, Monmouth)


Next door to Monmouth, the
Independence Heritage Museum tells the story of the area’s diverse history, Oregon Trail roots, the Kalapuya Tribe, and hop farms. Just north up 99W is the Polk County Museum.


The Willamette Valley is famous for its wines. Wineries in and around Monmouth include
Emerson Vineyards, Airlie Winery, Namaste Vineyards, Illahe Vineyards and Winery, and more.


If you wish to spend some time in nature, a number of scenic sites are within 15 miles of Monmouth, including the
Falls City area, Baskett Slough National Wildlife Refuge, Ankeny National Wildlife Refuge and the Luckiamute Landing State Natural Area.
